Ashtead Rotary Club has this week contributed £3,000 to our fellow club, the Rotary Club of Kyiv City.
The funds were contributed by members of the public who attended a concert run by the club in partnership with Yehudi Menuhin School, Cobham, that featured outstanding students from City of London Freemens, Howard of Effingham, Cranmore and Weldon Schools, in conjunction with students from across the UK and the world studying at Yehudi Menuhin School.
Our thanks to the participants, who donated their time and talent to support the children of Ukraine, and those who supported them by attending the concert and contributing to our Ukraine fund. This is the second concert run by Ashtead Rotary Club to support Ukraine and the Ukrainians living and working in our community as refugees.
The funds are being used to develop a mental health programme in Kyiv Schools for children who have been scarred by Russia’s attack on Ukraine. The “pilot program” is enabling the Club and the professionals with whom it is working to test programme to help the children who have suffered bombardment, dislocation from their homes and in many cases loss of parents, siblings and friends.
Rotary Club of Kyiv City and the other Rotary Clubs in Ukraine have over the last three years, and with support from the worldwide Rotary network, provided millions of pounds in humanitarian support for the people of Ukraine.
